Re: Rubik's Cube (DIY speakers??)

They look really good and a long way from a DIY appearance - it's going to be interesting to hear what they sound like. Next year I am going to make a variation on the Neat Ultimatum XLS 6. I like their design and sound and I think I might just be able to improve on things with an advanced cabinet d...

Re: Your last listen

I have just put on the Black Keys - Brothers double LP., it arrived this morning. The recording is so bad I had to take it off and put another LP on because it sounded like something in my playback system was broken. By some distance this is the worst recorded LP I have heard in a long time. In summ...

Re: Your last listen

Birdy Young Heart Double LP played at 45rpm. Wonderful quality recording and a number of slow burn tracks. I think this one will enjoy multiple trips to my TT

£10k, to me that's an awful lot of money but it was very good and I imagine easy to live with

The streamer was the source and yes it's rather good, I have no idea how much it cost but I guess it's not cheap

Re: Your last listen

Mendelssohn's orchestral symphonies for strings on a Hyperion 3 CD set - there's 13 all written between the age of 12 & 14. I literally lose track of time when these are on.

Re: North West Audio Show, Cranage

Other honourable mentions from my perspective go to the Grimm Audio LS1A speakers with the SB1 sub woofers, regrettably another sky high (to me) price of £22k and the Neat Classics at a much more sensible £2k, a lot of controlled sound from such a small enclosure.

Re: North West Audio Show, Cranage

Interesting to get your take on it. I wonder whether it was the music that was being played that clicked with me ? I think you are probably a bit more technically experienced than me but my degree and early years were in engineering so I am okish with the bulk of the principles and I am in total agr...

Re: North West Audio Show, Cranage

Good to see NVA delivering by some distance the best £ for £ value at the whole event. Shows are strange at the best of times. You have well established companies with 40/50/60 and occasionally over £100k of kit with zero acoustic treatment for the rooms. To his credit Paul had lugged along a fair b...
