Re: record cleaning

Hi Doc, thanks for advice on glue, liners and WD40! I think that I will pass on the WD40 - just worried that a coating on the stylus may encourage build up of crud ? The liners work very well used inside the card inners supplied with many records. No more scratching sounds as I remove the record fro...

Re: What makes for a good soundstage?

Hi,

Rega Ela come up slightly more often than Royd - early mk1 (full fluting on front baffle) were developed by Royd and Rega as joint venture? They use Royd drivers I think and have a very simple crossover. I love mine (owned from "new", ex demo' pair).

Re: record cleaning

Hi Helge,

Thanks for the link.
As the update at the start of the thread says, it is well worth going straight to page 34 - interesting read.

Re: What makes for a good soundstage?

Hi Walter, Welcome. I would be careful about getting in to a (never ending?) cycle of improving power supplies etc. As your old system gave you the sound stage that you loved, and your general description of the sound that you miss, I think that the speakers are the item you miss. Was it just the lo...

Re: record cleaning

Cheers Doc,

ordered 50 - I see that he is the same chap who makes the Moth record cleaner.

I thought that I would see how many records I manage to clean with the litre of resin w, then work out the total cost for doing all my records and make a decision based on that.

Thanks for the advice. Guy.

Re: record cleaning

Hi Doc,

Just ordered 1 litre resin w from Amazon (£7.99 inc delivery). I will give it a bash and report back.

Any recommendations for new inner sleeves (plain paper/polylined/whatever).

Thanks. Guy

Re: record cleaning

Hi Doc, I remember buying a PVA based record cleaner over 30 years ago  Seemed to work quite well but needed to be put on quite thick or traces of film were left in the groove. Reason I am interested in a wet cleaner is that I was a smoker several years ago, and not sure whether the film mask m...

record cleaning

Dear all,

Just mentioned to my wife that I would quite like a record cleaning machine for Christmas and wasn't shot down in flames

I have read around a bit on the interweb and the Okki Nokki seems to be well regarded. Any experiences/comments/alternatives - not silly money.

Guy.
