Re: Doc modding Marantz imperial 7

At this rate I will be spraying both mid bass and tweeter spheres in plastidip primer and then a colour topcoat. It doesn't have to be black :naughty: I fancy Black Cherry colour https://www.plastidip.co.uk/colour-swatches/ There are some special top coats as well that can make it glossy, satin, met...

Re: Doc modding Marantz imperial 7

Well whaddya know, Plastidip primer is acrylic based and will work well on acrylic. And I've already got some  From the plastidip site " Our Plasti Dip Primer is an air dried, acrylic primer specifically developed to increase adhesion to surfaces by up to 400%. Do NOT use if you require ...

Re: Doc modding Marantz imperial 7

I believe the acrylic spheres are only available (for the likes of me) in clear and opal because they are made for light fittings and so must be transparent or translucent to let light through.

Re: Doc modding Marantz imperial 7

If you build them unpainted and then use them you can decide later whether painting them is/might be a good idea. Painting will make a difference but why not find out what the ...

Top driver in the sphere half
No, never thought about that configuration. I can't see it being as good as a full sphere. You have PM peter.

Re: Doc modding Marantz imperial 7

Good news (some) from the acrylic sphere supplier. Yes I can have 350mm acrylic spheres with the opposing ends cut off for the bipolar drivers. They won't be able to do any thicker than 4mm wall thickness but that should be ok as it's a sphere and the holes in the two ends are small compared...

Re: The size of instruments

Should a grand piano and drum kit sound bigger than everything else? If Baldrick played his triangle how big should that be?

Re: Doc modding Marantz imperial 7

I think those stainless steel balls are too thin walled (1mm) to be any good unfortunately. :(
