Re: Sony buys Audeze

I saw that. There's a few YT videos on the subject. The feeling I that the Audiophile headphone element of Audeze will be left to govern themselves. Time will tell!

Re: Tinker, Tailor, Streamer, Pi.

I've been experimenting with the I2S settings on the Pi2AES 2.0 this morning. I was using the wrong one into the S5; music was output, but it sounded distant, veiled and lacking definition. A quick jumper change and it sounds perfect.

The Pi2AES 2.0 continues to impress. An incredible little board.

Re: There & Back Again: A Hobbi...Headphone Lover's Tale

Really terrific report GH ! Almost like being there in the flesh. Clear to see how high-end headphones have taken off to become a genre of their own. Can't say that I have ever really been impressed by Sennheisers, a brand I now avoid. The same applies to Meze. Also, after long being suspici...

The tube HPA paired with dCS Vivaldi and clock was the Viva Egoista 845. Here's another image.

It's a shame you couldn't make it, it would have been amazing to meet you. I didn't get a chance to listen to Qutest yesterday sadly. I think it probably offers a great performance/cost proposition, and lots of people regard it highly.

Re: There & Back Again: A Hobbi...Headphone Lover's Tale

Today was my first CanJam experience, and my head is reeling. It was an incredible event. I met so many amazing people, shared so many experiences and stories, listened to so many components and headphones that I would never get to see, let alone hear, ordinarily. Before I start describing the day, ...

Just got home from CanJam. OMG...just incredible. Will have a brew then start on my write up. The kit I've listened to today! 😊

Re: Tinker, Tailor, Streamer, Pi.

It is similar. The LPSU feeding the Pi should do nothing in theory, but I have one spare, so no harm done. People seem to feel that the approach elevates SQ another step. We'll see!

Re: There & Back Again: A Hobbi...Headphone Lover's Tale

Off to CanJam London this morning. I am super excited! There is a lot to try. I am taking my Arya Stealth Edition and ZMF Atrium Open to assess various source chains. I am also hoping to hear HD800S (a classic pair that really ought to be in my collection), ZMF Caldera (TOTL Planars from Zach) and S...

Re: Tinker, Tailor, Streamer, Pi.

A new DC cable has now arrived from Tomanek in Poland for the Pi2AES 2.0. I need to remove a jumper on the board to force the Pi2AES 2.0 to use it's own DC supply, rather than the 5v from GPIO. It'll then be using two seperate Tomanek LPSUs. Impact remains to be assessed, but I feel it's going to be...
