Re: Building a DIY amp with NVA amplifier boards

Yes, I agree with you.
Never my intent to change the original design as I’m already very pleased with the amp as it is. Just exploring simple ways to have small improvement on the PSU whenever possible. Not looking at any reconstruction or whatsoever.

Re: Building a DIY amp with NVA amplifier boards

Thanks Stu, Of course, doing like the A80s would be the ultimate, and I would get a used pair at some point when I have a chance to. I’m still running my old A60 with a volume pot. Had some issues with a few transistors and diodes but Tom gave some useful advice and I got a friend to fixed it for me...

Re: Building a DIY amp with NVA amplifier boards

I've read about isolating the power rail for input stage and output stage with a diode+220R bypass with 100uF+100nF. Would having separate wires from the shared PSU to the respective power input points of each stage be a sensible alternative? Of course need to cut away the existing wires that curren...

Hello Everyone,
I have an old A60 with one diodes on the amp board blew.
It is one of the 3 diodes closest to the output transistors and in between the 2 emitter resistors.
Can someone help to what diode is it so I can get a replacement?
Many thanks in advance.

Re: Another DIY SS Amplifier with NVA Boards

Hello Everyone, Some quick update after playing around a bit. I borrowed 2 old 150VA toroidal transformers from a friend and salvage some very old caps from storage and manage to hook up 2 sets of power supplies, each power supply consist of: 150VA toroidal with 2x28v secondary, 1x bridge rectifier ...

Re: Another DIY SS Amplifier with NVA Boards

Hello Stu, Let me try the two combinations and will share my observations here, but probably have to be in a month’s time. Still need to wait for some parts to arrive. For the inductors in between psu caps, I too prefer without them when I tried that with 3x4,700uF. But now I’m planning to put in ju...

Re: Another DIY SS Amplifier with NVA Boards

Hello Everyone, I know this has been left off a while but I need some advice here, after going through all the posts here and the other thread started by Stu a while back. I just bought an old AP50 (one with a chrome front plate, it’s old), and I intend to upgrade the power supply with 2 transformer...

Re: Hegel DAC

Sorry to revive an old threat, but I need some advice here: Been looking for a new setup for my newly acquired used Shahinian LARCs I am considering Hegal H80 with build-in DAC which seems to have many great reviews, and I can partially fund this by selling my Chord 2Qute which I recently bought fro...
