Re: Non NVA Equipment Used By Members.

I find NVA amps and speakers clean, clear and truthful to source be it good or bad. I like a sound that is quite warm and also have Quad 405 as well for change sake. I tend to mix around a bit. I largely use vinyl but dont have an NVA phono stage, I use a valve Pro Ject tubebox SEII. Also used earli...

Re: The future of NVA

Happy to hear this news. Have always come back to NVA equipment over the years after trying other stuff. The Doc's work will carry on.

Re: ESL57s and other vintage speakers with NVA

I used Ls3/5a with the AP30 a few years back. Well the Stirling V2 version. I know the Doc hated them and advised against their use with his kit but I thought they sounded lovely. The combination of NVA and ls3/5a vocal talents was excellent IMO.

Re: Speakers for my new A20+P20 Sys

Ive had with my A20 p10 set: Rega Rs3 - Cost £250 second hand. Equally older model Rega R3 should be cheaper. Sounds excellent and a keeper. Detail and slam, A20 plays to their strengths. Easy to drive. I keep this as my main speaker with NVA. Q Acoustics 2010i. Was £100 or less on ebay. Very capabl...

Re: Next step after starter kit

Thanks for the offer to help Doc. That's not far off the A40 monos.. I think I was trying to make the case to add it as a standard product and could see it being as popular as the starter set if priced competitively. For those with reasonably efficient speakers such as my Regas the 'lower'( if you c...

Re: Next step after starter kit

Hi Doc, I'm the original poster, Ive just typed out a long thing and lost it....ouch. Ive owned quite a few amps over the years ap10 A20 A30 ap30 A60. Keep coming back to NVA after a few strays away. I use Rega RS3s. And ANT Kora phono stage. Lenco L75 too. Yes I was asking for A20 in mono. Reason i...

Re: Speakers for P20+A20?

I've had lots of kit go through here, probably 30 or 40 amps. For me it's a question of priorities at the time. Need some money for other more important things than hifi? Sell an amp or two. Then the urge to buy again comes back. I found I enjoy some smaller systems just as much as larger ones, alth...

Re: Speakers for P20+A20?

I have had a brief try with 2 other speakers with the P20 A20 combo. Kralk Audio BC30, infinite baffle ls3/5a size usually used with Quad amps. Used against a wall to augment bass. Sounded good, this does have a more complicated crossover AFAIK than the Regas/ JPW. I noticed the A20 got warmer to th...

Re: Speakers for P20+A20?

Hi, long time lurker here. I'm recently enjoying a p20 a20 combination. I've used ls3/5a but find it ok with this combination but worked better with an old ap30 I once had. I know the Doc doesn't recommend complex crossover speakers with his kit. So my current fascination is with Rega RS3 speakers. ...
