Re: Boombox
Had a look. Big 10dB peak at resonance (550 hz). Sensitivity is 92dB which is good for a 5" Impedance is good too.
A very useful driver in the right situation. Not expensive enough to be taken seriously by the driver snobs though

Re: Boombox
Has anybody here ever built a speaker with left and right mid bass sharing the same backwave enclosure space ? Like some little boombox and Bluetooth speakers do. No. But my bass cab for low bass (cross over at 70Hz) does. In fact left and right low bass share the same speaker cone! :-D (Separate v...
Re: Boombox
I reckon that even thinking about this has made the tiny amount of audiophile street cred that I had remaining totally evaporate. Oh well. It's all about the enjoyment of music after all isn't it ??? My little jbl charge 5 does so many things right. If is really detailed and non annoying. The bass i...

Re: Speaker placement, reflections, cancellations, modes - making the best of a bad job
I wish I had never tried my bipolar speakers and listening chair well away from the walls. Unfortunately I can't un-hear it. I am all too familiar with piss poor speakers - I've made a few  I can't now ignore the fact that rooms and boundaries are bad. If I could I would have a single speaker ...

Re: Speaker placement, reflections, cancellations, modes - making the best of a bad job
I'm loving the replies so far on this thread, keep up good work. At this rate I will be forced to emigrate to pfm for somebody to talk to. I will be carpet bombed with graphs, equations and comments that I have no idea what I am talking about whilst they have a good chuckle that I can't really be se...

Re: Turn up the treble
Nothing wrong with a bit of treble. ;) This is my favourite track from one of my favourite guitarists, Sten Webb. It affected my early guitar sound no end and has been the cause, over the years, of many band members screaming at me to turn my " fucking treble down ". Nah. Sometimes you ne...

Re: Turn up the treble
I can’t stand excessive treble. The fact that I use single driver speakers might give a clue  Makes me laugh when people say to me that my designs could do with a bit more ‘sparkle’ up top. If someone aged from 55-70 years wants their treble to sparkle, then it’s wishful thinking, and they are...
