Re: Moving to 4.0 or 5.0 or 7.0 from 2.0

I've googled "soundbar wiki". The Wikipedia entry says " Soundbars are relatively small and can be easily positioned under a display, are easy to set up, and are usually less expensive than other stereo sound systems. However, due to their smaller size and lack of flexibility in posi...

Re: ATC v AVI v EV bake-off

http://www.whathifi.com/forum/hi-fi/can-you-recommend-speakers-to-pair-rega-elex-r I don't get it. ATC 11's lost 2 What Hi-Fi Forum bake-offs in the last 5 months and yet two people are recommending them in this What Hi-fi Forum thread. some people must like them as a good compact monitor and not e...

Re: Advice on Speaker Stands

We build square houses to give regular useable spaces, nothing to do with stability. In fact the most commonly used practices to build strength into a construction is triangulation. Let's imagine your four wheeled car without suspension, the wheels are rigidly fixed in position. How often do you th...

Re: NVA - AP10H Headphone Amp

Just about all of my evening listening is through my Sennheiser HD598 phones. They are a few years old now and I’m thinking of moving up to a pair of HD700’s. To get the best out of them I’m considering a dedicated headphone amp. My question revolves around the player / amp unit which is a Naim Uni...

Re: HFS Visits Hi-Fi Show Live 2016

Nice impression of the day, guys. Looks like you had some fun. :guiness; The Magico speakers look interesting and at £28 K there not a lot more than B&W 800 D it would be interesting to compare them as your paying for the cabinet cost on both, but the amplifiers used in the Magico system...

Re: Putin and Russia

You don't see what I am talking about, it is propagandic illogical gobble-de-gook, aimed at producing a state of mind. There will soon be a series of "proofs" and "truths" shown to Russian people about its recent behaviour, as in the downing of the Malaysian plane, the *invasion...

Re: Moving to 4.0 or 5.0 or 7.0 from 2.0

I bought a Marantz SR6010 for £480. I've initially set it up as a 7.0 system. Using EV Sentrys as fronts, a Linn Isobarik as the centre speaker, Saras as rears and Heybrook HB1's as sides. After watching an Our Brand is Crisis DVD on it my children declared that it was a waste of money. We'l...

Re: AVI vs...? bake off anyone?

When it comes to my hi-fi forum participation I see it as the equivalent of talking about football down the pub with a few mates. Where we may disagree about the merits of different teams and players, but at the end of the day it's only football and what we think of each other as people has nothing...

Re: Darius: Excess of Bass or Excess of Ass

There seems to be a lot of confusion. DQ is right no matter what you do with speaker it will produce its bass. It is far more often the size of the room that decides if you hear it, especially with normal UK rooms. Which is why the Yanks made monsters like Lyndsays, and we made the LS3/5A. What is ...
