Re: Linn Lies
So, never having even considered a Linn, do they acknowledge the inherent dynamic range compression of commercial LPs (to keep the stylus in the grove). I know that they don't offer a radio tuner, have they ever done so? As a Tape and Radio user I would probably be marched smartly out of any Linn sh...

Then that is what we will do.Dr Bunsen Honeydew wrote:I am not giving ANY details about it apart from what I have already. No presumptions, no mind sets interfering with choice. You will have to wait.

Re: Linn Lies
Anyone who owned a car that needed the setting-up of an LP12 would have sold it and bought something more reliable very quickly. At the time the TD150 was cheaper, near identical and didn't need the continual set-up. No idea what either sounded like as I have never used them but I too remember those...

Re: Linn Lies
Really? Special rubber eh? Does it come from a special rubber plantation too I wonder? The original belt on my TD160 was replaced very recently after over 30 years, it wasn't up to spec but it was still usable (much to my surprise). What should I expect from a £50 belt, 100 years? The belt in my tap...

Re: Linn Lies
Even Russ Andrews sells one for less than Linn: Origin Live belts for Linn (an alleged upgrade, no less) £29.60!!!!! - Unless, I misread it of course and it was £296.00!! I looked up the price of a TD150 belt from Bob at Vintage Electronics, he wants $9.50. He also lists a belt for the LP12, also $...

Re: Linn Lies
what really winds me up is the price of a new belt,£50 for a poxy bit of rubber,i mean you can buy a car tyre for that and thats steel re-enforced! how can they justify that?? If the design is based on the Thorens TD150 a Thorens belt should fit, at under half the price. Probably get a suitable bel...

Re: Linn Lies
Why would I want to do that?Dr Bunsen Honeydew wrote:Go and say that on the Linn forum then, I bet it last less than 5 minutes.
I would suggest that an SM58 can produce a better sound, on a sound per £ basis, than anything Linn make, and I don't even like the SM58 that much.

Re: Linn Lies
The only people who still believe them about anything are their dedicated band of followers. The problem is that it is still a fairly large number of brainwashed fuckwits! With more money then sense. I just looked at the Linn price list, I could get decent 400 f2.8 and a set of NVA monoblocks plus ...
