Re: It's so Ethereal
If you are hearing all this difference, then would it not make more sense to add a extra network card to your file store (whatever that is) and run a separate network just for the audio traffic instead of making it share the cable with all your other data?

Re: Integrated Nva clone
I would suggest both 1 and 2 are the worst places to call ground. The center point where the transformer secondary joins the rail is better. Both 1 and 2 will have the cap charging current passing through the wire which will generate a voltage that will be induced into your ground reference.

Re: DIY thoughts of the day
Maybe, Savvy will know for certain, but at least the old reviews of NVA amps indicated that they were slew rate limited at higher frequencies.I suppose kit with less getting in the way stands a better chance and this could be a reason why NVA sounds so good.

Re: DIY thoughts of the day
I believe that the reproduction of frequencies well beyond the range of human hearing effect our enjoyment of music and think that the extent to which it occurs varies from individual to individual. I think this goes some way to explaining why many prefer vinyl to CD. The 44 kHv cap is too low. Its...

Would not just using a arm lift avoid your problems?
Not sure why a dropped arm would write a LP off, cartridge maybe. What arm and cart are you using?

Re: NVA P50sa Passive Pot spec (mk 1), what is it please?
it's stil a 2V output with incremental trimming of the output based on in-line resistors is it not? Not really, A pure voltage (or current) source only exists in theory. In practice the output will also include a source resistance (well really an impedance, but lets try and keep it a little simple)...

Re: NVA P50sa Passive Pot spec (mk 1), what is it please?
Why, why does a valve amp differ from a SS one in this respect? Valves are high impedance voltage based things. So while the input pot for a amplifier won't matter to the amp if its 100k or 10k, it will matter to whatever is driving the pot. In the time of valves, consumer phono stages, preamps, tu...

Re: Another DIY SS Amplifier with NVA Boards
Maybe the darlington pair output stage with its high gain, sidesteps the whole issue? Don't confuse current gain with voltage gain. Not in valve land now. drivers (TIP31 & 32) can take 50 V That may be confusing. if they are C, then they will take 100v, but that's from +ve to -ve, (collector on...

This is a good paper on op amp decoupling, and it also shows why replacing op amps in a circuit can come with side effects. https://www.analog.com/media/en/technical-documentation/application-notes/AN-202.pdf Thius has some good words on cap choice. https://www.analog.com/media/en/training-seminars/...
