Re: Anything flute...

My current favourites are Bjorn Jayson Lindh and Bobbi Humphrey, both jazz funk/fusion, and Lisa Mallet. Lisa's playing can be heard on some of the tracks on Matthew Halsall's Fletcher Moss Park LP. I've not found any of her own recordings as yet. Of the older generation I like Frank Wess, there's a...

Re: Advice for forum newcomer and relatively new NVA fan with £1k to spend

I've ordered the Dave Heath CD but the some of the Susan Milan CDs look expensive, especially Out of the Cool which is the one that looks most interesting to me. The clips that I listened to from Flute Fantasie on Chandos sound good.

Re: Favourite tunes

My problem is where to draw the lines between genres, there is a lot of crossover in the music that I listen to but I'll try to list what I like in some sort of order of what my preferences are at the moment Jazz funk/fusion, jazz, modern soul (70's), dub reggae, dancehall reggae (early 80's) roots ...

Re: Advice for forum newcomer and relatively new NVA fan with £1k to spend

I don't know a lot about jazz fluters - have a few Herbie Mann albums and bits and pieces here and there. Used to play in big bands myself but I'm certainly no jazzer. From the world of jazz I'm a big Art Tatum fan. Incredible musician/pianist. If you want to hear some awesome fluting I can highly ...

Re: Advice for forum newcomer and relatively new NVA fan with £1k to spend

Hi Pianist-Envy, welcome to HFS. A pro flute player? One of my favourite instruments to listen to but mainly in a jazz setting. I would echo the recommendations for the P50. I have a P20 and think it is a bit limited in flexibility (but not sound). If I was starting from scratch knowing what I know ...

Re: DAC & Interconnects bake-off - Durham

Unfortunately I'm rota'd in to work weekends until 26th May but I can send a Beresford Caiman Mk2 DAC.

I have just ordered the cheap DAC but need to place an order for the LPSU to go with it.

Re: DAC Bake-Off - Durham - March 31st

Paul, I'm sure it will be an enjoyable weekend with your son.

I've replied to your PM. It looks like the proposed dates rule me out again due to work if those are all that are available. I've given some that I could make just in case there's any flexibility.

Re: DAC Bake-Off - Durham - March 31st

Although I have a commitment on the evening I might be able to make it to this bake off. I'll only be able to confirm closer to the day.

I have a Beresford Caiman that I could bring.

Re: Earthquake in S Wales

I remember one centred in the North Sea several years ago. I woke in the middle of the night feeling a bit strange and heard the sound of something falling in the attic, I thought that an animal or bird must have got in and knocked something over and went back to sleep. It was only when I got up the...

Re: Similar cables ?

I had a mains cable from them, not sure if it was the Candour but there were 2 types if I remember. I had the cheaper one which was basically CY shielded cable. Actually I did have a mains block from them too, that was a standard mains block with a couple of components inside and a length of the mor...
