Re: YER FAVORITE NOVELS....?

I'm pretty low brow when it comes to books, especially novels. Michael Connolly, Ian Rankin etc. do it for me. Currently reading Stuart Maconie's wonderful The People's Songs - The Story of Modern Britain in 50 Songs. Some surprising choices, but as always Stuart Maconie is a keen observer and write...

Re: Your last listen

Off the back of watching Aynsley Lister at Manchester's Academy 3 last night (top gig, brilliant band) I'm listening to my latest CD purchase ( I don't know about others but I can't go to a gig without buying a CD or 3 from the merchandise stand afterwards) http://www.stereoboard.com/images/stories/...

Re: Your last listen

Ah Bridge Of Sighs, a true 10 out of 10 album , and in Day Of The Eagle my favourite all time opening track. I can't listen to that without the air guitar coming out, even if I'm driving. I've moved onto this 2013 release now.. http://bluesrockreview.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/rootsandbranches-3...

Re: Top 2000

I should have clarified Jammy, yes fine tunes indeed but as you say played to death over and over again. I mean Led Zeppelin for example, how many great songs could they play for christsakes, but it's always STH or Whole Lotta Love? A typical Class Rock programmer.. http://ichef.bbci.co.uk/images/ic...

Re: Top 2000

The number 1 for 2015 has just been announced and 4.5 million people have voted 'Imagine' by John Lennon as the song of the year. The rest of the top 5 is, usually, 'Bohemian Rhapsody', 'Hotel California', 'Stairway to Heaven' and 'Child in Time'. The main reason I never listen to the local Classic...

Re: Last Live Listen

Hot on the heels of a triumphant Walter Trout last Friday, I'm off to see Aynsley Lister tomorrow night at Manchester's Acadamy 3. Always a good show with Aynsley, should be good.

Re: Your last listen

Talking of great guitarists, when I've had a hard day at work, and just want to sit back and chill out to some beautifully tasteful and laid back guitar, who better than Robin Trower, and his last album..

Re: Jazz Rock

Fretless, you might also be interested in the group Patto from the early 70's. In vocalist Mike Patto you have one of the greatest vocalists that you've never heard of, and in guitarist Ollie Halsall, well the word great does not do the man justice. Try this twofer CD.. http://www.pattofan.com/Patto...
