1970's opamps, unfortunately anything that passes through them comes out as audio mud IME. If you enjoy a "warm" sound you might like it/them.

The promotion they receive is inexplicable, pure and simple. I told Marco I thought they were shite & of course my pair must have been faulty or mucked about with :roll: In fact the derision came from so many I doubted myself & bought another pair to try... Nope still shite ! Also tried 33's...

Looking good Ronin. Years ago I replaced the standard screw connectors on a pair of Celestial Ditton 15's with some blingy gold plated 5-way binding posts (yeah yeah I didn't know any better) anyway, I didn't use the provided insulators & the Celestion terminal plate whilst plastic has a sticker...

One thing to watch out for on the original AR amp is the preamplifier power supply is "always on", its connected directly to the transformer bypassing the power switch so those reservoir capacitors have been on for 49 years in some cases ! They were shot in mine and it started to hum like ...

Indeed they are Doc, I had the original AR amp, tuner & AR3a's... not the matching TT though regrettably :| Sold the lot to an Italian chap, it cost a bomb in p&p but he was over the moon with them. The old NAD stuff is quality as you say - Had the "Model 160a" receiver but I took ...
