Re: Glass vs Acrylic Platters

Thinking back to my first venture into the world of hifi, I brought a starter system from Billy Vee, way back when, which was a Dual 505, Rotel Amp and JPW P1 speakers. I have to say I really miss the P1's they were great for the money...

Re: Glass vs Acrylic Platters

So "The Kestrels are funny things" interesting. I have owned them from new in 1998 when I brought them with the Rega Mira from Infidelity in Kingston upon Thames. my wife picked them out and the dealer thought they were a good match, and indeed they did look nice in the Yew finish that the...

Re: Glass vs Acrylic Platters

I should also say how excellent the service I received from Johnnie at Audio Origami was in rewiring the cheap Rega R200 I picked up on eBay was. I have to say I was surprised that the arm sounded better than the Scottish built Linn Akito arm when fitted to the Systemdek with the Riggle VTAF. Lookin...

Re: Glass vs Acrylic Platters

Thanks for the above comments, really appreciated. I appreciate that sound is a personal thing and people have different preferences. I suppose I am just keen to hear what the artist has taken the trouble to record as it is meant to be heard but i guess unless you've heard the master tapes you don't...

Glass vs Acrylic Platters

Hello all, I have a Systemdek IIX turntable now with a rewired Rega R200 arm (by Johnnie at Audio Origami) with a Pete Riggle VTAF. Go the Rega arm cheap on fleabay so that I could easily swap out some different types of cartridge (MM, MC & MI etc) and the VTAF so that I could try some different...

Re: Setting off down the NVA road

Hi all
Many thanks for all the comments, seems like I need to give a NVA pre-amp a go!
Given the need for two pairs of outputs seems like the P50 could be the way to go, might try the loan scheme and give it a try....

Re: Setting off down the NVA road

Thanks for the above chaps,
I had not realised you could possibly control the volume another way such as the Sky box remote! I use Apple TV for streaming so I will check out the function on these tonight.
Would much rather go the whole NVA hogg as it were!
Many thanks

Re: Setting off down the NVA road

Thanks Doc and Terry I would like to use an NVA Passive pre-amp, but the TV and streamed music will all go trough it which the whole family uses, therefroe the need for the remote. I realise this will involve compromise, but for now, it will have to be. In the future my intention is to have separate...

Setting off down the NVA road

Hello all, I am looking to set off down the NVA road and after I have repalced all my interconnects with SSC will then look to replace my Rega Mira/Maia (clamshell) bi-amp sett up with pre-amp and amplifiers as we go through the coming year. However, I will need to get a pre-amp that has remote cont...

Re: Trade Ins

Hi Doc Was looking through the forum and cam across this old post, can't believe it was back in May 2014 I was buying the LS3 cables!!! Anyway, I can thoroughly concur with your comment above about the "night & day" difference being spot on. Soooooooo much more detail and clarity, real...
