Steve's Valve Amplifier

OK Perhaps I should have posted here in the first place. So...here are the schematics for my balanced, push-pull EL34 amplifier. The voltages it contains are LETHAL so this is for information only and I'm not advocating that anyone builds it. Besides, being fully balanced (to eliminate the phase spl...

Valve amps are relatively simple as they are simple construction. Big components not that many joints or connections. This is why most DIYers make valve amps and very few build transistor amps unless they buy already assembled PCB's, so basically just putting it in a box with a power supply - and e...

Re: Forum room for members system pics

I'm deeply envious with respect for anyone who can design and make their own gear, especially that using valves.. I'm way behind but hoping to make a little test amp of my own before too long if I'm allowed :) Once you buid something and it works, you'll be hooked. It's a slippery slope, but very e...

Re: The New Flat Earth?

Who remembers the play list, well the obvious was Dire Straits. DSJR has just mentioned Grace Jones. C'mon add to the list, there aren't *that* many. OK I'll have a shot  Judie Tzuke - Welcome to the Cruise Rosie Vela - Rosie Vela Steely Dan - Gaucho Shakatak - Night Birds Shakatak - Drivin' H...

Possibly the end of valve amps

Lots of discussion about the legality/illegality of valve amps may be moot if the EU get their way. http://www.pocket-lint.com/news/130591-after-vacuum-cleaner-ban-the-eu-targets-hairdryers-kettles-and-even-smartphones Most definitely the end of class A power amplification of any sort is implied by ...

Re: AP20 vinyl trouble

okay. In that case what would have caused his Cyrus to go into protection mode under the same circumstances? Mark said to me that when his Cyrus shut of it was extremely hot even though the music wasn't any louder (just volume control higher to get same SPL). It didn't like the speaker load it was ...
