Re: Brexit

How the hell did we manage to trade and survive before we joined the Common Market? Note I stated Common Market - a protectionist club! We fucked up commonwealth fellows, almost bankrupting them to joint this useless dictatorship which is clearly not fucking working for most of its members. Just rem...

Re: Yorkshire HIFI club Phono Stage write up / results

I used the NVA phono a few times at home, it worked perfectly well in my system. It has not been tampered with in any way, I had it in the shop for the last meeting. I was upstairs with a customer when it was put on so never heard it. It still remains a superb VFM item which is why I bought it. I n...

Re: Things that go walkie's

The idiot who stole it sold it to a guy in Somerset. I will never get it back. It was designed for Maggy Speakers and it was 50W/8R, 100W/4R, 200W/2R, 400W/1R in stereo, or 800W/0.5R Mono or 200W/8R, 400W/4R, 800W/2R and only 1200W/1R mono bridge. A few dealer tried it and on Wharfedale Diamond is ...

Re: NVA and hi-fi shows

Plenty controversial for some in the industry I think Doc. Only wish I could tag along to assist. Hoping you'll have enough assistance at each show.

Re: What should I do with my old LP12?

Hmm, actually there were many versions of the Goldring Lenco GL 75/78. As they were out sourced and therefore rebadged, you want to find the best version. For example, HMV versions were top of range with sprung chassis and more importantly the metal idler wheel. To get the best you need to dig deep...

Re: A20 love

The main issue with the LP12 is far too much variability in manufactured components and again with assembly/service /set-up skills. Minimise those and it has a chance of performing very well. The motor/belt pulls across the arm axis instead of along it, something Arthur's mod minimised in reposition...
