Re: Why no analogue to digital talk

There is quite a bit of interest in Philips CD players based on 1541A DAC. You will be surprised how good these sound. In hi-fi and absolute terms not as good as say an ESS sabre DAC. I can do the comparison and a modest Marantz CD65SE II is very musical in comparison to a CXC through Sabre DAC (in ...

Re: Brexit Deal - one of the easiest in human history?

Bonkers Boris kept the whole world guessing until the last minute if he would or wouldn't pull his No Deal stunt. Meaning that nobody could sort any terms out for things like status, work permits, visas, whatever beforehand because the exit rules were simply not known. Things like residency, work a...

Re: Brexit Deal - one of the easiest in human history?

I also must point out that before we joined the EU - common market as was then - there were few difficulties in visiting Eur...

Re: Coronavirus restrictions: are they legal

Restrictions are legal but they haven't been applied. We rely on persuading people and being nice to them. Quite a few I believe should have been put behind bars for protection of the majority.

Re: "Freedom" of speech

In the case of Trump I think his comments come under breaking the Law as he was engaged in incitement. I'm sure he would have been banned long before if he hadn't been the President. If anything twitter and social media have been guilty of ignoring activity that contradicts the law. You can say all ...

Re: Reliable stylus force gauge

In my experience those £10 Chinese gauges are fine. Only changed batteries once in some years. Look same as the branded ones by Project and others. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Neoteck-Digital-Turntable-Backlight-Cartridge-Black-Black/dp/B01GJ01FGM/ref=sr_1_5?crid=HAK800VKBP5Q&dchild=1&keywords=...

Re: Your last listen

If there was magic smoke then I didn't witness it. Was working fine yesterday, went to put some tunes on after dinner...dead. Checked the usual...not responding. About 18 months old. Sudden death without signs of malfunction could simply be a fuse (internal). I'm assuming you checked the plug fuse....

Marianne Faithfull - Come And Stay With Me - 45s 1964-69 (vinyl). The orchestration on many tracks is sublime. Includes the original Sister Morphine. PJ Harvey / John Parish. Dance Hall At Louse Point. Great 90s alternative rock. Bob Dylan - Self Portrait (Sundazed, Kevin Gray vinyl master). Much be...
