Re: One for the Doc - AP50 placement

Hi-fi needs room to breath, and I don't mean heat only. Just close proximity is the problem and not just hum fields but also music as the cable maze cross talks. It is just totally illogical to cram all this stuff up next to each other. Once again the idea came from the pro-market with pro 19 inch ...

Re: Who is the worst lying marketing arse.

Wait to see if he can emulate Elon Musk with motors. Now there is a man I can happily nominate as greatest bullshit salesman. Musk does tend to overshoot target dates, but he does normally finally deliver. Just what is it about his companies that you feel is bullshit? Have you seen his product laun...

Re: Who is the worst lying marketing arse.

DQ I have never used a Dyson as I am put off by the price (though recently he is in the discounters) and by his smarmy know it all manner, and the bullshit he comes out with. The bling nature of the product doesn't help for me either. To be honest the product is good if pricey. It actually gets you...

Re: Who is the worst lying marketing arse.

The Dyson battery operated vacuum is a marvellous machine. It would be a marvellous machine that did exactly what it said on the tin if I was able bodied .But having 1 arm and 1 leg that is not optimal , the bloody thing is a revelation. I can't knock their products, in terms of design and function...

Re: Who is the worst lying marketing arse.

Dyson is actually an engineer and designer. It's only in recent years he has been seen as a marketing man due to appearing in his own adverts. He must know there is no such thing as a digital motor! There is of course a rival company now where the owner appears in his own adverts. Likely this was en...

Re: Uncorrected lies on hi-fi forums

Doc. Electronics layman here.. Does complimentary output split rail mean "push-pull" Cheers Alfi. It does with valve amps. Marco has a push pull valve power amp he tells everyone is class A, same lies it is class AB. Can't forget that. Where I fell out with him by agreeing with you on HFS. LOL. Jus...

Re: Roksan Xerexs

I remember Radfords in Bristol had the JBE and later Roksan while remaining a Linn dealer. They weren't that keen on deming the JBE but more enthusiastic about deming STD305 and Thorens 160s, later of which I purchased (1980). So some dealers got away with pushing a wider range of turntables prior t...

There really isn't any support for banning NVA. I don't get the idea that NVA owners attack any criticism. Usually the other way round.

Re: New Rack Wood or Granite

If you want to use rock as your base I would suggest slate. Note it's use with Garrard decks. Slate is not a solid mass being made up of thin layers so there is breakup of vibration. Not a solid lump that will likely deaden the sound.

Re: What should I do with my old LP12?

I think a Jelco is too high mass arm for a V15III. If you want genuine vintage low mass an SME III is the ticket. There is a member here who makes the Sole subchassis. I think he may be able to help with arm boards. I'm sure there are a number of other third party makers out there. Why not go more v...
