Re: Ebay madness

Agreed Doc. Exactly Zebbo, i'd have thought £700'ish was it max considering the faulty tweeter which i think must be unobtainium now, but the cabinetry is fabulous though,i can't help but think the Audiolab amp being overdriven fried the tweeter, my opinion of course having no experience of the amp...

Re: Suzanne Vega

I thought of 'Luka' but checking Wicki reveals it got to 21. Certainly had a lot of airplay at the time. Bands/artists that didn't hit the top 20? - Fairport Convention, Si Tu Dois Partis also made 21. PJ Harvey has had a number of singles in the 20s but not top 20.

Re: Sinclair

Both Sugar & Sinclair never made good kit it was all for a price cheap and nasty, stealing IMO. But hey they both got Knighthood, so Doc let us make some junk audio kit, label it Made in Anihc. And get worthless Knighthoods. We could add silver tinsel and Gold Stars to bling it up a bit and tie the...

Re: What is NVA

With regard to DACs many dealer bought ones are competitive against direct sales, even when exported with additional costs (I am thinking of the likes of Chord and Audioquest). This implies that directly sold DACs are being sold at retail prices, but it would be difficult to proove. I'm sorry but y...

Re: Hi-Fi Honesty

I remember Linn made their own recordings. The Blue Nile comes to mind. They also I believe made studio digital equipment before their domestic offerings. They obviously knew how bad the LP12 was in the late 80s from which point genuine improvements started. It's odd that the substantive design chan...

Speakers that don't require a listener sweet spot.

Some guy on Hoffman considering purchase of $17K Chinese horns (based on Youtube  ) got me thinking about this. Obviously NVA Cube designs qualify but what others? I suspect these massive horns may qualify but they sound a bit PA to me. Maybe Tannoy 12" dual concentric ? https://youtu.be/cOXvSW...
