Re: CDs giving up the ghost

I've only got one knackered CD - Floored Genius by Julian Cope. Even on that one it's only the last couple of tracks that don't play properly. It was the first CD I bought, and got played to death.

Re: Yer fav MIDSOMER MURDERS episode

There was a good episode about a clash between digital and old style photography. Wonder if they will ever make one concerning ana!ogue and digital audio. Passions can run high. There was an Inspector Morse episode about a murderous pair of brothers who made turntables. Oddly enough, they wer...

Re: Your last listen

'Weird Scenes Inside The Goldmine' (a Doors compilation) followed by Little Feat's 'Dixie Chicken'. Yesterday I was mostly listening to Emil Gilel's recordings of Beethoven's piano sonatas.

Re: Speakers

I didn't take your words to mean me personally, I was just rambling on. I would only give advice on audio equipment if a) my opinion was sought and b) if I'd had direct experience of the equipment in question; ie had owned and used it over a long-ish period rather than briefly heard it at a demo or ...

Re: Speakers

I'm almost ego-less, and have no intention of adopting any sort of guru status. People like what they like, and there's no reason to suppose any particular person would like my systems any more than they'd like my choice of music. If I came into a lot of money I wouldn't be buying anything hifi-rela...

Re: Speakers

I'm perfectly happy with both pairs of speakers I own. In fact, I'm perfectly happy with both systems I own. You can learn from this that it is possible to be contented, though it helps if you're easily pleased.

Re: Why Bother.

Here’s a question I’ve been wanting to ask for a while here. I used to post at AoS. I left. I haven’t been back. I don’t read it. It seems many here have been banned from other forums. There are threads here where it is obvious that the contributors go to these other forums and read them. Why? Most...

Re: 10 Best Dylan songs, Jimmehs

Ballad of a Thin Man When the Ship Comes In (could be my top fav. Very rousing song and optimistic - unlike Dylan) Visions of Johanna (haunting song - are Louise/Johanna ghosts? " the ghost of electricity howls in the bones of her face." ”Blonde On Blonde surprized me on first listen. It was a dist...
