Re: FoTF Royd Speakers
Given your tastes in amplification I would think trying some Royds is pretty mandatory Sovereign.

Re: NVA case materials
Hi, I was wondering if the Doc has tried Corian ? You know the stuff they use as working surfaces in kitchens. Is's easy to assemble, can be polished to a very high gloss, it's hard, joints are almost invisible, it's dense and can be worked like wood. I'm sure the finished product would look very c...

Re: Your last listen
What an album, I much prefer this to "Back In Black".

Re: FoTF Royd Speakers
I recently picked up a pair of Royd Sorcerers, which appear to have the updated drivers used in the SE & Revelation series. These are very small, but weigh 9kg each. They've been a speaker I wanted when I was younger. These retailed at £600 in the 90s. http://i1265.photobucket.com/albums/jj516/W...

Re: Is a S/PDIF cable the same a phono?
This may be a daft question, but is a S/PDIF cable the same as a normal Phono/RCA cable ? Thanks Some normal phono/RCA cables (like Mark Grant) uses 75ohm impedance cable, but then others are 50ohm. I am of the school that you should have as close to a match of 75ohm as possible, and that signal re...

Re: nva ap10p
Yes, but you'd want a 4556 opamp (like Grado use) as they offer high and stable current delivery, which is critical for Grados.howardc1951 wrote:A C Moy amp should drive Grados easily especially as Grado's own headphone amp is the same basic design but made with cheaper components and put in a fancy wooden box!

Re: nva ap10p
I use Grado RS-1 with the AP10H & it's right up there with my STAX setup with pretty much the same detail, less air and ambience, but more dynamics and foot tapping sound with the Grado / NVA - raw as sushi though, so shows no mercy for poor recordings, but magic with the right stuff.

Re: Introduce Yourselves
Hi, I'm Neil, have been reading this forum for a few weeks now. Currently have an NVA AP10H in my setup powering Grado RS-1s, to get the most out of Grados you need a small power amp up them, and the AP10H is quite literally that. Previously I have heavily used NVA cables and had some time with a lo...
