Re: Cheap DAC

Yeah optical in and RCA our which I believe is standard with a DAC isn’t it? I know nothing about DACs. Will have an Xbox and Switch into a TV that then has optical out, into a DAC and then either into some JBL One 104 or into a small Denon Amp I’ve got and then some small speakers if I can find som...

Cheap DAC

Hi Chaps

Been a while since I’ve posted but I’ve kept checking in occasionally.

I need to get a cheap DAC that does Toslink to AUX. Any recommendations?

This is simply for a TV/Games room so ideally looking for sub £100 and open to either used or new.

Love my NVA system. Best music I've had in a 40 years period.
This is a nice setup.

Re: Richard Dunn

I saw this last week but just decided I'd like to say something. I met Richard through this forum and enjoyed seeing his rants and the way he picked apart the bullsh*t in the industry. I helped him update his website and eBay listings. There was so much more that could have been done to improve NVA ...

Re: New!!!!! NVA CD players

For me the biggest problem with any sort of player will be the quality of the transport and the DAC, now obviously the Raspberry Pi DAC is good (probably great with decent power) but a cheap DVD players transport will be just that, cheap. It's the reason the Doc's own CD source is sooooo good. Sony ...

Re: New!!!!! NVA CD players

Think he's just saying that there doesn't seem to be any DVD players with decent DACs and analogue outputs, so because of that no matter how great the power supply you build or the other mods it's going to be limited by the DAC and players specs. The Onkyo and Tascam are pure CDP's and they seem to ...

Re: New!!!!! NVA CD players

I've wasted a few hours today looking at suitable players. Only things I found in budget were the Onkyo 7030 (mentioned above) and the Tascam CD-200. But neither are DVD players, neither play SACD and neither are slot loading. I found an American company called Emotiva (direct selling) who do a slot...

Re: New!!!!! NVA CD players

Just saw the Denon DCD-50, might be a suitable donor as it's small, doesn't have a tray and looks like ok specs.
