Re: hi-fi stand

Here's a few photos of a custom sized shelving project I did for my mum. It's much larger than a hi-fi rack, but should give you an idea of what can made from timber and glue. I used 18mm plywood for the shelves. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1byetXQCXA-xmMu-sLF3QWVOtKnMRxt0q/view?usp=drive_link h...

Re: Taking the piss out of politics

One only has to look at history to see what can happen when the government starts setting the agenda on what's extreme: Neroist Rome: anyone believing in Christianity Medieval Europe: anyone not believing in the papist version of Christianity Stalinist Soviet Union: people that exercise their sense ...

Re: Stu

With steel that thick and wide, does it take a lot of force or hammering to get it shaped round the wooden former? I'd also expect a bit of springback. But then I guess we're not looking at ultra-accuracy here. Some sort of (CNC) flame or plasma cutter would save a lot of time, but cost ££££'s. Or e...

Titanic Wig-Wam forum

The Wig-Wam forum appears to have gone as buggy as hell. My current work-around to get into it is to log my account in or out. Probably some weird cookie shit going on. I am currently the last person to have posted on the 2 Channel section of the forum. 2 days ago. Feels like I'm the last person lef...

Re: Forum Slow Running & Hanging

Phew. Thought my new phone was pants. Is it just me, or is Wam also problematic? The WAM has multiple problems due to withdrawal of IT support and an absent / hostile owner. The admins and most of the mods have left there to set up a new forum... https://www.maverick-hifi.com/ With Duvet going over...

Re: Compression

Feedback from whom? Complete and utter morons? There are plenty of them about in the music biz. I see parallels with the world of art. Where there's plenty of follow-the-leader sheep that think that efforts like this are worth paying money for: https://media.istockphoto.com/id/649249402/photo/abstra...

Re: Compression

I see it as a downward spiral. Dynamic compression used because so few people listen via hi-fi systems. Low interest in buying hi-fi because almost all modern music is so dynamically compressed.
