Can't say I ever tried a dedicated controller so can't compare.

I use a Nexus 10 tablet and find it extremely user friendly in terms of general interface, visibility of whats going on in multiple rooms and choosing your music.

Well, had it for almost a year or so now and still love it. I now have speaker units in the kitchen, front room and bedroom as well as the Connect receiver for my main system. It's wonderful.
