Re: Goodmans Magnum K Refurb and Modification (part 2)

Doc is on holiday , so in the meantime i will offer my opinion . i tried many values of padding resistor . if we assume 6 would have been perfect for you , it is unlikely a 5.6 ohm will be noticeably different . You can only tell by listening and seeing which you prefer . 5 watts on all of them wil...

Re: Goodmans Magnum K Refurb and Modification (part 2)

Thanks Doc.I did hold fire, I read through some of the threads on here were you've already mentioned a padding resistor, apart from the values,so I'm grateful you've responded with the necessary extra information and advice. I've sent for some 10ohms 5 watt wirewounds, but I can't find 6 ohms only 5...

Re: Goodmans Magnum K Refurb and Modification (part 2)

Get some Servisol switch cleaner-lubricant from your local Maplin (CPC are great but now need a £10 order, but P&P is free then) and give the controls and switchgear a good but careful squirt, jiggling or rotating said controls. Hopefully, this will help. Thanks,I will definitely try some Servi...

Re: Goodmans Magnum K Refurb and Modification (part 2)

Tried my mates speakers and the "fluttering" noise is still there. It's actually something to do with the volume control or the switches on the Leak amplifier, because there is a lot of crackling when turned, but then it disappeared.. Not sure why this is happening now,I guess it's sods law...

Re: Goodmans Magnum K Refurb and Modification (part 2)

Ronin, capacitors look fine, as does the wiring. All + cables to to + connections on the drivers & likewise for the -'s... 1st order (single component in series, as you have done) has 90 degree phase shift whereas 2nd order (as was originally fitted) has a 180 degree shift necessitating the twe...

Re: Goodmans Magnum K Refurb and Modification (part 2)

Fair enough Doc.The only reason I asked, because I had a spare tub left over. But since I've got no definitive answer from Bostik and you're not sure,I've had to a order some Bison Kit (which isn't that easy to get hold of in large quantity),I've just ordered a few tubes. Soldered in the Capacitors .C...
