Re: Obfuscation and DQ.
Very few facts: only one that I can think of at the moment is that we will all die. Too many forums/ "gurus" have a go about scientists because, as far as I can see, they don't understand the scientific process: A scientist will come up with a theory, backed up by research and observations...

Re: Your last listen
Don't know why but pulled out Paul Kossof - "Back street crawler". Must be forty years since I last had a listen, lots of bitter sweet memories (I had hair, what happened to flairs? cheesecloth? etc etc).
Still; a prime example of why it is worth hanging on to old vinyl.

Re: Break-in
Awful thing to happen, I hope the police manage to get the bastards.
My main concern is that if we were burgled that my dog could get hurt - she is a Staffie, but as soft as the softest thing that you can think of.

Re: Richard Dunn
My condolences to Nadia.
I met Richard a couple of times (first time a little nervous because of his forum persona) and each time he was an entertaining, charming and thoughtful host.
A great loss to the HiFi (I prefer "music reproduction") industry. RIP.

Re: Julian Richer hands over control to his staff
I remember going to Richer sounds at London Bridge walk to buy an Aurex cassette deck. bit off topic but some naughty person had painted "did you know that Dennis Thatcher owns 50% of Falklands Oil co". Often wondered whether it was true or not, but a worthwhile visit in terms of opening m...

Re: Upgrade path suggestions
I was surprised with the improvements gained by changing from LS2 to LS5 speaker cable - and I was a bit sceptical about cable effects.

Re: Turntable Static?
If earthing to platter is ok then it can't build up static - aluminium is very good electrical conductor so any static charge will "leak away". What type of mat are you using? have you changed it recently? May not be static - if stylus is picking up lots of dust/fluff, then it may be at en...

Re: Plastic
"They don't understand that good engineering involves the use of appropriate materials ....." hits the nail on the head. I worked in plastics R&D for ICI for about fifteen years and remember being told how "plastic" became synonymous with cheap and nasty during the fifties an...
