How much?

Or perhaps "How little?" would be more accurate.

If you listen to your music via streaming, this is how much the musicians get out of it.
If you want the smaller bands to survive, please go to their websites and buy their music/merchandise there instead.
Every little helps...

I fail to see how streaming is a rip off for the artist.

Sorry DQ but I fail to see how it can be anything but, if they get 0.5p per download they are doing better than streaming. Needing 161,000 streams per day to make minimum wage may work for a big artist but for someone relatively unknown it probably just doesn't happen.

Price is per song, per play.

And world wide audiences.

You shouldn't have to pay a lot to listen to one song, once.

It's a race to the bottom and some of the rates are already microscopic - if the artist or group does not tour to decent sized audience's then it's hard to see how they will make money

The fact lps and cds are no longer purchased by the youth deos not mean new media should be expensive.

It's like coal. The market shifts you move with it or die.

Bandcamp is far better arranged for artists. Payment for LP, CD or download purchases and that includes unlimited streaming.

Subscriber streaming services are only of interest for big-names.
