Re: My latest obsession
There seems to be a higher percentage of musicians on HFS than other hifi forums.
I can identify with that.

Re: My latest obsession
I got my information about Premier Percussion wrong. They have been in the doldrums for years with only a Facebook page available and a few marching snare drums available to buy. Last year they were bought by Gear4music. There are quite a few drum kits now available to buy from them. God knows what the quality is like now though or where they are made.
My Green Premier Genista kit from the mid 90's is highly sought after now. In the 80's Yamaha bought Premier and brought them up to date and turned their ailing fortunes around. Yamaha sold the company back in 1992. I bet the English factory is long gone.
Premier is 100 years old this year !

Premier and Moon the Loon. Stuff to drool over if old drums affect drummers the same way that old guitars affect guitarists.

This 16" floor tom shell is looking better already.
Would love that pictures of lily kit. Would also need a bigger car.

I’m no musician but I can drive a mixer a bit, that means I get to “work” with lots of musicians.TheMadMick wrote: ↑Mon Apr 18, 2022 2:44 pm There seems to be a higher percentage of musicians on HFS than other hifi forums.

Re: My latest obsession
The Premier Drum factory in Wigston, Leics has long gone. The factory itself stood empty and derelict for years, then demolished. A Wickes and Lidl now stand on the site!

Re: My latest obsession
I found a quote by one of my drummer heroes. Had to put it here.
""I think that feeling is a lot more important than technique. It's all very well doing a triple paradiddle - but who's going to know you've done it? If you play technically you sound like everybody else. It's being original that counts." ~ John Bonham
Never a truer word said BUT.....you have to know these rudiments and be able to execute them if you join a jazz outfit. If all you are playing is pop, rock, blues, metal, Country then I doubt you will ever have to play one.
