Re: JPW P1 Doc Mods
Unfortunately collection is not an option for me. How much would P&P be?Dr Bunsen Honeydew wrote:Thanks for the link, I have made it a sticky.
No P&P at cost has to applied as I hope some / most can be collected. Packing safely is a pain, even more so with tweeters after mods.
I'm still not sure whether to go for Doc Mod drivers for the JPWs or just go for Cubettes. One of the things putting me off Cubettes is that I would probably need new stands to get the tweeters at a similar height as they are now unless I was to put something between them and my current stands. Approx. £200 for Doc Mod mid/bass drivers and tweeters versus £330 for Cubettes

Re: JPW P1 Doc Mods
Sorry, I think I have confused matters, I was trying to get an idea of how the total costs compared.
I am just looking to buy the mid/bass drivers at the moment, which according to the link would be £120 + £10 P&P as you have said above, if that is correct I will send payment tonight.

Re: JPW P1 Doc Mods
Hi Doc, payment sent via PPG for a pair of the 8 inch mid bass Doc Mod drivers.
I've got a couple of pairs of soft dome tweeters that were previously in other speaker projects that I am thinking of trying, a pair of Morel DMS20 and an unbranded pair that I purchased several years ago but do sound quite good in the current speaker.

Re: JPW P1 Doc Mods
Tweeters arrived yesterday. Much appreciated that doc
Fitted . They look much better imo.
Fitted with clarity caps 4.7 uf caps measured to % tolerance and 15 ohm resistor. Far to dull . Removed the resistor so now just a cap on postive terminal. That's much better. Now undecided on some records sounds fine. Some two much especially if volume is increased , more experimenting needed.

Re: JPW P1 Doc Mods
Try dropping the cap value to 3.3uF. Crossover point is probably too low. 3.3uF willl raise it a bit.

Re: JPW P1 Doc Mods
About 10 ohm probably best. Also they are unused tweeters which are now doped so will need a couple of days run in and for the doping to loosen up.
